Equipping armor, and New Quest: "Lions for Lambs"
_
The situation in Northshire is clearly very
serious; no sooner do you complete your first Quest than Marshal McBride gives
you a new one. This time, Blackrock Orc spies have been spotted on the
perimeter, just at the edge of the forest. Your new assignment is to kill 8 of
these Blackrock Spies, and report back to Marshal McBride. Your reward will be
40 Copper coins, 500 XP, and a Stormwind Infantry Belt (a new piece of armor).
Click "Accept," but before you go off to kill Orcs, press the
"B" Key on your keyboard to open up your Backpack.
_
Next, press the "C" Key to open your
Character Info window, which will display a rotatable image of your Character,
as well as all of your weapon and armor slots (the majority of which will be
empty at this point).
_ If you click the arrow button in the lower right
corner of the Character Info window, a section will pop out on the right side
showing your Character's various combat statistics; this isn't absolutely
necessary at this point, but in the long run, it will be useful to be able to
refer to these statistics quickly.
_
When you look over at your Backpack, you should see a few
scraps of junk loot you took off the Worgs, a gray stone with blue markings
called a Hearthstone (more on this in a while), the pair of Worg Handler's
Gloves you received as a reward for your first Quest, and your current amount
of money (at the bottom the Backpack window). If you hold your mouse cursor
over the Worg Handler's Gloves, you'll be able to see a small tooltip window
listing their item name, the type of armor they are (Mail), the armor slot they
fill (Hands), the amount by which they increase your Armor rating (and with it,
how well you can resist damage), its Durability rating (what physical condition
they're in), and what Item Level it is (an at-a-glance way to judge how good an
item is). Some armor items and weapons you'll find later will also provide
bonuses to your statistics like Strength, Agility, and Stamina, making you more
powerful, but you won't find items like that for a little while.
In the meantime, those gloves aren't doing your Warrior any good just sitting in your Backpack; time to equip them! To do so, either click and hold the Left mouse button on the gloves, drag them over to the Hands armor slot in your Character Info window, and drop them in (the appropriate slot will light up), or simply right-click on the gloves to automatically equip them in the correct slot. If you were already wearing gloves, the Worg Handler Gloves would replace them, and the old gloves would show up in your Backpack. Remember to press the "C" and "B" Keys to close your Character Info window and Backpack (or press "ESC" to close all your open windows).
Now that you're properly equipped, let's go kill some Orcs! Check your Minimap for the shaded area to indicate where your targets are hiding, and then head over that way to find them (their names will be lit up, just like the Blackrock Battle Worgs in the first Quest). You'll have to kill 8 of them to complete the Quest; don't forget to loot their bodies for money and/or items! Once you're finished, report back to Marshal McBride again.
