Vendor NPCs, and New Quests: "Report to Goldshire" and "Rest and Relaxation"
_
Marshal McBride thanks you for your service to Northshire Valley, and he gives you new orders with
the Quest "Report to Goldshire." You are to deliver his report on
what has been happening in Northshire to Marshal Dughan in the nearby town of Goldshire, which is to
the south, past the Northshire border gates. Before you head that way to begin
your adventures in the wider world, however, press the "B" Key to
open your bags. You'll see that in addition to your Hearthstone and Marshal
McBride's report, you have some junk loot from the Worgs you killed earlier, as
well as your outdated weapon and equipment. Those items aren't doing you any good,
and they're taking up space in your bags that you'll need going forward. To get
rid of them (and make a small bit of money in the process), walk over to one of
the Vendor NPCs near Marshal McBride.
_
The various Vendor NPCs in the game will sell a wide variety
of goods, and many of them specialize in a specific type (weapons, different
armor types, food and drink, potions, etc). In addition, any Vendor NPC will
buy virtually any kind of item from you. If an item can't be sold to a vendor,
you'll see a message telling you so.
Of these four Vendor NPCs, three of them--weaponsmith Janos Hammerknuckle, cloth & leather armor merchant Dermot Johns, and armorer & shieldcrafter Godric Rothgar--have something in common. They are capable of repairing your damaged weapons and armor, as indicated by the fact that your mouse cursor turns into an anvil symbol when you hold it over them. In the case of vendors who can not repair your gear--like general supplies vendor Brother Danil--the mouse cursor will turn into a bag symbol. Now, walk over to Godric Rothgar and right-click on him to see what he has to sell.

Once the Vendor interface for Godric is open, you can sell
him your unwanted items by right-clicking on them in your Backpack and/or bag. Once
you've done this, you can hold your mouse cursor over each of the armor &
shield items he has for sale to see how they compare to what you currently have
equipped. If you haven't found any pieces of wrist armor yet, you might
consider buying the Tarnished Chain Bracers, and if you have enough money for them the Tarnished Chain Vest and the Tarnished Chain Belt would be good purchases, too. Either
one of the shields for sale would be a good choice if you want to buy a one-handed weapon from Janos Hammerknuckle as a replacement for your Militia Warhammer, and the Tarnished Chain Leggings would be a good improvement as well. However, since a set of Mail leg armor
(Pikeman Trousers) and a shield (Pikeman Shield) are both possible Quest reward
choices for "Report to Goldshire," you may not want to buy leg
armor or a shield right now. If you buy either leg armor or a shield now, select the
opposite of what you buy now as your Quest reward for "Report to Goldshire." Don't forget to equip whatever you buy, and to sell Godric any old armor that
is replaced!
Before you leave Godric's Vendor interface, look down at the bottom of the window. See that anvil icon? Whenever you have damaged gear, you can click on this icon to automatically repair all of it up to full Durability. This will cost money--and the worse the damage, the higher the cost--so make sure you have enough money to pay for your repairs! Also, take note of the Buyback tab. If you ever have second thoughts about selling any items, you can click on this tab to see a selection of items you've recently sold (even ones sold to other Vendors). You can then, if you want, buy back any of those items at the same price you got from the Vendor you sold it to.
Next, let's take a look at what Brother Danil has for sale:

Next, let's take a look at what Brother Danil has for sale:
_
You'll see that Brother Danil is selling food and drink (a
means of replenishing Health and Mana in between fights) in the form of Tough
Hunk of Bread and Refreshing Spring Water, each in stacks of 5. You can also
buy a Small Brown Pouch (a 6 slot bag).
The bag would be a good buy, but even if you have enough money for it, it might not leave you with very much, so you should pass on it for right now. You should also forego buying any food or drink for the time being. You'll have an opportunity to get some as a Quest reward very shortly, and drink doesn't do you any good as a Warrior, anyway (Mana is the Resource of magic-using Classes like Mages and Priests).
Whenever you're ready, bid a fond farewell to Northshire Valley, and head south toward the border gates. As you pass through the border gates, you'll encounter a new Quest Giver, Falkhaan Isenstrider.

Falkhaan is here to encourage adventurers to stop at the
Lion's Pride Inn on their way through Goldshire with the Quest "Rest and
Relaxation." He tells you to speak to Innkeeper Farley, who will give you
your choice between two wrist armor pieces (if you haven't bought one already)
or a pair of leather gloves (Innkeeper's Gloves), as well as a stack of 5 Small
Pumpkins and a stack of 5 Refreshing Spring Waters.
An important note about this Quest: This will be the first Quest that the game will not automatically accept for you, so make sure you click "Accept" before you walk away from Falkhaan! After accepting the Quest, turn south, and follow the road to Goldshire.
As you enter Goldshire, you will likely see a lot of busy activity. The town is a popular gathering point for Players who are traveling through Elwynn Forest, even Players who are at a high level. Goldshire is an example of a kind of basic settlement that can be found in many Zones in World of Warcraft, particularly the starting Zones of the different races. Kharanos and Dolanaar are examples of other Alliance settlements, while Razor Hill and Bloodhoof Village are examples of comparable Horde settlements. In addition to providing a variety of basic services (Vendors, an Inn, a Flight Master, etc), settlements like Goldshire serve as a sort of "Quest hub" where you can obtain a number of new Quests for leveling up your Character. You can tell this by the numerous exclamation point indicators you should be able to see on your Minimap.
Before you do anything else, walk over to the NPC named Bartlett the Brave (indicated on the Minimap with a green exclamation mark), and right click on him once. Don't do anything else with him for now--you'll be coming back to him in a while. For now, walk into Lion's Pride Inn, which is opposite where Bartlett the Brave was standing. Once inside, look for Innkeeper Farley and turn in the "Rest and Relaxation" Quest. After you do, speak to him again, and look carefully at the dialogue box that opens up.

Take note of the line that says, "Make this inn your
home." A window will pop up asking you to confirm that you want to make
the Lion's Pride Inn your home; click the "Accept" button to do so. Remember
that Hearthstone that's in your Backpack? By clicking to make the Lion's Pride
Inn your home, you have linked your Hearthstone to the Lion's Pride Inn. This
allows you to use your Hearthstone to teleport back to the Lion's Pride Inn, no
matter where you are in the game. Why is this important, you ask? Well, take a
look at your Character Portrait.
Notice how the indicator of your Level has been replaced with "zzz?" This means that your Character is accumulating what is referred to as "Rest State." By making sure you always log out of the game with your Character at an Inn, you will accumulate Rest State while you are away from the game. When you log back in, you will temporarily gain double the normal amount of XP from killing enemies (the amount of XP you get from turning in Quests is not affected). The more Rest State you have built up, the longer you will gain double XP from killing enemies, up to a cap of one and-one-half the length of the XP Bar from your current point. While you are gaining double XP from killing enemies, your XP Bar will be blue instead of purple.
Tip: Click and drag your Hearthstone from your Backpack to an open Action Bar slot for easy use!
Note: The Hearthstone has a 30-minute "cooldown" period between uses, so try to only use it when you really need to.
Talk to Innkeeper Farley again. Now, click on the line "I want to browse your goods," and you'll see the variety of food and drink items you can purchase. Notice that some of the food and drink icons are highlighted in red; these are items that you can't use because you're not at a high enough Level yet. Make room in your Backpack by selling Farley all your items that can be sold (including the pumpkins and water he just gave you), and buy two stacks of Dalaran Sharp cheese, so you have a total of 10 pieces. You should make sure you always have food on hand to replenish Health between fights, and also that you buy better food as you level up. Incidentally, food is another thing that would be good to add to an Action Bar slot!
When you're done buying food, walk back outside the Inn, and walk over to Marshal Dughan to turn in the "Report to Goldshire" Quest. Equip your chosen armor piece, and then take a look around. You'll see that in addition to Marshal Dughan, there are two other NPCs within view that have Quests you could pick up (Remy "Two Times" and Smith Argus), as well as one who is back inside Lion's Pride Inn (William Pestle). Go around to each of them, and pick up their Quests. Before you start working on any Quests, however, walk over to the two NPCs standing near Remy "Two Times," and speak to Lien Farner. He's going to help you get started with a part of the game that is technically optional, but which you should definitely make use of in order to earn in-game money: Professions.
