New Quests: "Find the Lost Guards," "Discover Rolf's Fate," "Report to Thomas,"
"Bounty on Murlocs," and "Protect the Frontier"
_
Speak to Guard Thomas, who confirms that Murlocs are threatening the area.
He also gives you two new Quests. For the first Quest ("Find the Lost
Guards"), he asks you to head north along the river and look for two lost
guards, Rolf and Malakai (or their remains). The second Quest ("Protect
the Frontier") involves keeping the local wildlife in check by killing 8
Prowlers or Forest Wolves and 5 Young Forest Bears. Before you head north, grab
the two Quests from the Wanted poster next to Guard Thomas. They include
"Bounty on Murlocs," which involves returning 8 Torn Murloc Fins to
Guard Thomas, and "Wanted: James Clark," which requires that you find
and kill the fugitive James Clark, and take his head to Marshal McCree at the
nearby Eastvale Logging Camp. Head north to Stone Cairn Lake to look for Guard Rolf and Guard Malakai.
When you reach the southern shore of the lake, you'll find a half-eaten body with a Quest question mark above it. Sadly, you've found what's left of Guard Malakai. This, in turn, gives you the Quest "Discover Rolf's Fate, which directs you to search the nearby Murloc village to the northeast for Rolf or his remains. Before you head to the Murloc village, spend some time killing Wolves and Bears in the forest to complete "Protect the Frontier" (the Murlocs are tough, and there are a lot of them, so you'll want to try to level up before attacking).
Once you've killed enough Wolves and Bears, report back to Guard Thomas to turn "Protect the Frontier" in. When you do, drag the 2 Lesser Healing Potions you receive as one of your Quest rewards to an open Action Bar slot for easy use. Healing potions will allow you to heal some damage instantly in the middle of a fight. Be careful, however; you can only use Potions once during a fight.
You should now have reached Level 8 and be at least part of the way to Level 9, making you strong enough to handle the Murlocs, provided that you don't try to fight too many at once. If you haven't reached Level 8, try killing some more bears & wolves until you do. Follow the river back north to Stone Cairn Lake, and fight your way through the Murloc village until you see a Quest question mark hovering above Rolf's corpse. If you have trouble getting through the groups of Murlocs to Rolf's corpse, you may want to use the General chat channel to ask other players for assistance (enter the "/1" command to enter General chat mode). Complete the "Discover Rolf's Fate" Quest, and pick up "Report to Thomas" so you can head back to inform Guard Thomas that Rolf and Malakai are dead. Before you head back, make sure you finish looting 8 Torn Murloc Fins from the Murlocs for "Bounty on Murlocs."
